Jennifer Wendt, Ph.D.
Jennifer Wendt, Ph.D., is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in California who graduated from California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. Prior to her doctorate, she earned a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University.
Dr. Wendt’s clinical experience includes working with individuals, couples, families, groups, children and adolescents. In addition to private practice she has worked in private and public schools, psychiatric hospitals, juvenile programs and college campuses. She is also a professor at a local community college, teaching courses in psychology. While working within an autism agency for fifteen years, she worked in homes and schools developing and implementing behavioral programs for all ages (e.g. one year to 18 years). Therapeutically, she has enjoyed working side by side with families to increase their quality of life and help them learn skills necessary to manage their day to day lives and embrace a variety of challenges.
In her private practice, Dr. Wendt enjoys offering therapeutic services to adults, college students, children, adolescents and families. Her therapeutic approach is client-centered and personalized to support each client’s needs. She utilizes a foundation of strength-based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while using a blend of therapeutic techniques. She believes it is important to create a collaborative therapeutic relationship, allowing the client to propel their own success. Dr. Wendt is recognized for her genuine, compassion that supports clients in their ability to gain clarity and skills to manage life’s challenges and improve the quality of their lives.
Areas of Specialization
Dr. Wendt has a special interest in women’s issues and supporting females through the lifespan, from childhood through adulthood. She has an extensive background in child and adolescent therapy, as well as parenting skills and relationships within the family. She has specialized in working with families who have children with developmental disabilities and has a sensitive approach to supporting all members of a family. Additionally, Dr. Wendt works with all ages to enhance their own abilities and learn how to face challenges in their life. Common areas of focus include life transitions, stress management, self-esteem, parenting, grief, anxiety and depression, as well as academic, career and relationship concerns.
